Write for us
Coastal Training Guide welcomes clear, original pitches that help readers understand a coastal recreation skill or make a considered choice about an outing. Send proposals through the Contact page, rather than submitting a full article without an agreed brief.
What we are looking for
Pitch a focused subject in preparation, navigation, shoreline awareness, paddling, or campcraft. Strong proposals offer a distinct reader question, a useful explanation, and a scope that can be handled responsibly without pretending to assess a particular site or reader. Beginner-friendly comparisons, planning approaches, and clear explanations of familiar concepts are especially suitable.
What to include
Use the Contact page to describe the working title, central idea, intended reader, and what makes the piece different from material already on the site. Mention relevant experience only when it directly supports the proposed subject; do not imply credentials you do not hold. We cannot promise publication, and a pitch should not depend on unsupported claims or instructions that require hazardous work.
Originality and review
We consider original work written in plain English, with careful attention to uncertainty and the limits of general guidance. Tell us about any commercial interests or supplied products relevant to a proposal. Editors may suggest a different angle or request revisions before a contribution is accepted.
Confidence grows from knowing what to notice
Coastal skills are built from small decisions made before and during an outing. We explain those decisions in plain language, so you can plan within your experience and keep learning at your own pace.
