Coastal Training Guide

Editorial policy

Coastal Training Guide aims to make coastal recreation skills understandable without overstating what general information can do. We value careful wording, transparent edits, and a clear distinction between editorial material and paid or partner content.

Accuracy and scope

We check explanations for internal consistency and write within the limits of general editorial information. We avoid presenting conditions as predictable or one approach as suitable for every coast, person, or outing. Topics that require specific local knowledge, specialist instruction, or a current assessment are treated with appropriate limits rather than framed as universally actionable advice.

Independence and labelling

Editorial decisions are separate from partnership discussions. Where content or placements are paid for, supplied by a partner, or created in collaboration, that relationship is clearly identified near the material. A commercial relationship does not guarantee favourable editorial coverage, and partner material is not presented as independent reporting.

Corrections and illustrations

Readers can use the Contact page to flag an error or unclear passage. We review correction requests and update material when a change is warranted, making significant changes clear where appropriate. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; illustrative images are not evidence of real conditions, locations, or events.

Our approach

Confidence grows from knowing what to notice

Coastal skills are built from small decisions made before and during an outing. We explain those decisions in plain language, so you can plan within your experience and keep learning at your own pace.
